From residues to new materials, from data to new connections across value chains. BIO.CO.R.N.ER explores a circular economy model that valorises residues and secondary raw materials from agri-food and marine value chains, transforming them into new resources for the development of bio-based materials for the construction sector. Developed within the CIRCULOOS Open Call, the project explored the valorisation of different secondary raw materials – including agricultural residues, Posidonia oceanica and mussel shells – for the development and testing of new formulations and materials. A key outcome of the project is the BIO.CO.R.N.ER Data Platform, developed to connect secondary raw materials, processes, recipes and actors across different value chains, helping identify new valorisation opportunities and fostering cross-sector collaboration within a circular economy approach. Clust-ER Agrifood contributed to the project through its SPES Value Chain – Food Waste and By-products Valorization, focused on turning waste and by-products into valuable resources and developing innovative and sustainable solutions. BIO.CO.R.N.ER demonstrates how collaboration across agri-food, research, innovation and construction can transform residues into new resources, creating value through material circularity and knowledge sharing. The CIRCULOOS project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.
